335 Oil Modifications
Quote from GBlount73 on December 14, 2021, 8:54 pmI’m working on building a Ford 400 and was curious why and how you modify the oil passages between the main and cam bearings. As well as the reasoning behind the external oil feed line from the rear of the block to the front nest to the fuel pump. Are there any other oil mods you suggest for a high performance ford 400?

Quote from Timothy Meyer on December 15, 2021, 12:16 pmThe grooved cam bearing controls the amount of oil going to the cam bearings. The external oil line is to help equalize the system. By the time the oil leaves the pump, with the turns & leaks along the way, there is oil volume loss (which equals pressure) along the path. The external line supplies peak oil volumn to the end of the oil path, which helps equalize the complete system.
Now having said that, we seldom ever use it. Typically high-end engine for race applications only.
%98 of the engines we built uses the grooved cam bearings, & the Track Boss oil filter adapter.

we do the cam bearing and restrict #1 main like the image shows on the cam bearing web page. filter adapter is icing on the cake and is to easy no to do.
