UNI (University of Northern Iowa)

Message from instructor...
"Cleveland block progress.
Molds were made yesterday and will be delivered today.
Cores are being made now at the university and should be completed by the end of the week if time allows"
I can almost smell the iron...

Track Boss cast-iron block #1???
Probably not, but this is the first sample casting. We will be visiting the foundry on Tuesday, talking details & bringing the first casting back.
This has been a long time coming, and I "think" we are rounding that corner.

Track Boss cast-iron block #1???
The best casting we have seen so far. Water jacket core shift is the final adjustment we need to start producing iron blocks.
2nd casting we should see in 2-3 weeks.
Not a lightweight at all, but, at a 4.200" cylinder bore, cylinder walls would be about .230" thick.
We are very excited to finally produce this block...and we have many, many names on our list also waiting for one...

Track Boss cast-iron block......
We have taken a small cut on both ends of the block and now set it on our granite block to check the over length. We check the center of the #3 main & center of the distributor hole and then decide how much to remove from each end.
In this case, we need to remove about .065 off the front & .020" off the rear to achieve our 22.700" overall length spec.
Closer, closer.....

Track Boss iron block update...
Message from pattern shop last week. "We are going to try to mold one in a week or so! I will let you know! We are still waiting on the thermo cups!" Spoke to the president of the company and he thinks they may be able to pour by the end of this week...This will be the 2nd casting, which will have the updated tooling changes & may be the "final" adjustments required to start making a run of casting.

HUGE Thanks to "Skeet" and the crew at American Pattern!!!!

I called the owner of the pattern shop today to get an update on our 1st block with the latest changes. No time line at this point.
